Xbox respawns IKEA furniture with gaming range
IKEA has announced YXSTABY, a nine-item Xbox-themed furniture and accessories range, extending Microsoft’s merchandising efforts into home furnishings. The collaboration matters mainly as a lifestyle branding exercise for Xbox, arriving while the console business faces pressure from stronger rivals and rising hardware costs.
The range includes a thumbstick-shaped stool, a D-pad cushion and other gaming-inspired items, and will be sold online and in stores from 1 October after its Gamescom unveiling. UK IKEA prices for comparable products currently range from £12 for cushions or platters to £115 for a wheeled side table, while Xbox Series S and Series X consoles cost £429.99 and £669.99 respectively, up from the Series S’s £249 launch price in 2020.
