Xbox has revealed its Gamescom 2026 lineup, confirming 25 games will feature at its booth in Cologne, Germany, including the first public gameplay demonstration of Playground Games' long-awaited Fable reboot. The event also marks an early hands-on appearance for Alien Isolation 2, formally announced only in June, alongside a playable demo of RGG Studios' Stranger Than Heaven. The heavy presence underlines how central Gamescom remains to the games industry calendar, and comes as Microsoft appears keen to generate positive attention amid ongoing internal turmoil.

Fable's demo will show off its combat system without being directly playable, while Alien Isolation 2's showing may reuse footage from its earlier Summer Game Fest preview. Stranger Than Heaven will let attendees try its dual-character combat system across cities from the game's 50-year storyline. Other unreleased titles at Microsoft's 140-station booth include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Gears of War: E-Day and Metro 2039. Gamescom runs from 26 to 30 August, opening with Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live stream, and last year drew over 300,000 visitors, even as Microsoft continues cutting more than 3,000 jobs this fiscal year.
