Xbox testing ad-supported game streaming in new rollout
Microsoft is testing an ad-supported Xbox cloud gaming option that lets selected players stream certain games they already own after watching adverts. The trial matters because it could provide a cheaper route into game streaming as Microsoft seeks to broaden Xbox access while console prices rise.
The limited test is available only to Xbox Insiders, supports one-hour sessions across compatible devices, and does not interrupt gameplay with adverts. Microsoft says participation is optional and that it will use player feedback to refine the service; the move follows planned US price rises that will take the Xbox Series X to $799.99 and the 512GB Series S to $499.99, alongside thousands of planned gaming-division redundancies.
