Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has received a Switch 2 update that adds an option to turn off its controversial gacha-style Blade acquisition animation. The change matters because players have criticised the repeated, unskippable sequence since the JRPG launched eight years ago, particularly when opening large numbers of Core Crystals.

The update allows players to disable the animation through the game’s settings, making the process of obtaining Blades faster and less repetitive. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 originally released for Nintendo Switch in 2017, and the improvement follows the game’s compatibility with Nintendo’s newer Switch 2 hardware.
