Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, whose 9,210mAh battery is the largest it has put in a phone sold in Europe. The company says the silicon-carbon battery can provide up to three days of typical use, making extended battery life the handset’s main selling point despite some more modest specifications.

In some markets, the phone has an even larger 10,000mAh battery; Xiaomi claims 37 hours of video playback, 80% capacity retention after 1,600 charging cycles, and full charging in just over an hour with 100W wired charging. It has a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chip, up to 12GB of RAM, a 6.83-inch OLED display and IP69K protection, but relatively basic cameras; it will cost about $499 outside the US.
