XPENG says its Iron humanoid robot autonomously walked off a newly operational production line after assembly, marking progress towards mass production by the end of 2026. The demonstration is symbolically significant, but it does not yet prove that Iron can operate reliably through a full working day or handle unpredictable human interactions.

The company says more than 80% of the line’s core processes are automated, while Iron has 76 degrees of freedom, 21 in each hand and onboard computing capable of 2,250 trillion operations per second. XPENG plans to use the robots in its shops and campuses before offering them in China and overseas markets in 2027, but has not disclosed output, pricing, US availability or independent safety results; competitors including Tesla and Figure are also developing humanoid robots for industrial work.
