Yasuhisa Hara’s ‘Kingdom’ Vol. 80 Holds Atop Billboard Japan Book Hot 100 for Second Week

Yasuhisa Hara's manga series "Kingdom" held the top spot on the Billboard Japan Book Hot 100 for a second consecutive week with its 80th volume, according to the chart released on 3 September. The chart, which combines physical sales, e-books, library loans, subscriptions and social media activity, offers a broad measure of the most popular reading material in Japan for the tracking period of 24-30 August.

Kingdom Vol. 80 ranked first in brick-and-mortar sales, second in e-books and 17th in e-commerce. The manga adaptation of Zatsuyo Fuyojutsu-shi ga Jibun no Saikyou ni Kizuku made debuted at No. 2, topping the e-books metric ahead of a planned 2027 anime adaptation, while Keigo Higashino's posthumous novel Eien no Kioku climbed to No. 3. Notably, Chiikawa: Nanka Chiisakute Kawaii Yatsu Vol. 8 leapt from No. 73 to No. 11, boosted by its "Siren Arc" storyline, which inspired the hit film Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island, now grossing over 10 billion yen at the Japanese box office.
