Yemen: 22 killed in strike near Sanaa, Houthis say
Airstrikes near Sanaa killed at least 22 people and wounded 30, according to the Houthi-run Health Ministry. The Houthis blamed Saudi Arabia, which had not commented at the time of reporting; the allegation matters amid renewed fighting in Yemen’s long-running civil war.
The reported strikes hit homes in al-Shariya village on Saturday, a Houthi spokesperson said. The Houthis control Sanaa and much of western and northern Yemen, while Saudi Arabia backs the internationally recognised government. A years-long truce broke down over the summer, and the UN says intensified fighting has killed more than 1,600 people and displaced over 300,000.
