Yemen and Lebanon to work towards halting Hezbollah support for Houthis, minister says
Yemen’s Foreign Minister Afrah al-Zouba said Yemen and Lebanon would coordinate on measures to halt Hezbollah’s support for the Houthi movement. Her statement followed a meeting between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Yemen’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and signals an effort to address the alleged support through cooperation between the two governments.
Al-Zouba said Yemen welcomed Lebanon’s support for its sovereignty and opposition to military intervention in its internal affairs. She referred to Yemen’s earlier announcement about Hezbollah members supporting Houthi military operations, and said both countries should follow up to prevent that support from continuing or resuming. She also backed Lebanon’s efforts to extend state authority across its territory and keep control of weapons and decisions on war and peace in the hands of the state.
