The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokémon Bank, the Nintendo 3DS storage service, will close on 25 February 2027. Players have fewer than 200 days to transfer any stored Pokémon to Pokémon Home; after the shutdown, transfers will end and Pokémon left in Bank will be permanently lost. The closure matters particularly to long-term players who use the service to preserve rare, competitive or sentimental Pokémon across game generations.

Pokémon Bank launched in 2013 and supported transfers from several 3DS-era games, including Black and White, X and Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and Sun and Moon. Although it was removed from the 3DS eShop in 2023, Nintendo kept it operating after the wider 3DS online-service shutdown; Pokémon Home, launched in 2020, is its Switch-compatible successor. The announcement also confirms that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen will gain Home compatibility in October 2026, while speculation about other Game Boy Advance ports remains unconfirmed.
