Your Fitbit data can now connect directly to Apple Health

The Verge · 4 hours ago

Google has rolled out an update allowing Fitbit data to sync directly into Apple Health, closing a gap that had frustrated users switching between the two ecosystems. Previously, data could only flow one way, from Apple Health into Google Health, forcing users who wanted the reverse to rely on third-party workarounds such as Power Sync for Fitbit. The change gives users on Apple devices a native, official way to combine their Fitbit tracking with Apple's health ecosystem.

The feature arrives with Google Health's 5.05 update and is enabled by tapping the profile icon, selecting "Partner apps", and choosing Apple Health to link workouts, steps, vitals and other data. It follows Google's May relaunch of Google Health as a replacement for the standalone Fitbit app, a transition that drew criticism over its AI health coach and redesigned interface, some of which Google has since addressed. Alongside the sync feature, Google also announced Smart Health Links for US users, letting them share medical records with providers or family via a URL or QR code generated from the app's Medical section.
