The September full Moon, known as the Harvest Moon, illuminated skies across the UK on Saturday, creating striking views for observers on the ground and in the air. It reached its fullest point at 17:49 BST, but became most impressive after dark, prompting people to share photographs with BBC Weather Watchers.

Images showed the Moon above landmarks and landscapes including Whitby ruins, the River Thames, the Shetlands and Penarth. Other photographs captured unusual effects, including the Moon appearing to roll down steps in Northern Ireland, breaking through clouds in Essex and glowing orange over North Shields.
