Zack Polanski’s poll approval ratings hit new low amid ‘Zionism is racism’ row

The Independent ·

Zack Polanski’s overall favourability has fallen to a new low since becoming Green Party leader, with more than half of those surveyed viewing him unfavourably. The result comes after criticism over a Green Party conference motion describing Zionism as “racism”, as well as his defeat in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election.

An Ipsos poll found 52 per cent had an unfavourable view of Polanski, up six points since September, while 16 per cent viewed him favourably, giving him a net rating of minus 36. His net rating among under-35s fell from plus 16 in April to plus two, and among 2024 Labour voters from plus seven to minus 24. The survey of 2,257 British adults was conducted online from 9 to 13 October; it also found Andy Burnham was the only senior UK politician with a positive overall rating.

  • Polanski’s net favourability fell to minus 36.
  • 52 per cent viewed him unfavourably in the Ipsos poll.
  • His support also fell among younger voters and former Labour voters.
