Zelensky urges US senators to speed up Ukraine’s military support
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told a bipartisan group of US senators that Ukraine urgently needs military support, saying the situation is its most difficult since the war began. The appeal came as President Donald Trump questioned Zelensky’s leadership and said someone else should negotiate for Ukraine, amid a dispute over US support.
Zelensky said Ukraine had not received advance warnings of Russian attacks on three occasions in the past week and that restrictions on satellite systems were hampering frontline communications and drone defence. He also claimed US officials had held up Patriot interceptors and AIM-9X missiles, despite NATO countries having paid for them. The Trump administration denied deliberately restricting satellite access and attributed the missing warnings to a software problem.
