Zidane gives Pagis first France call-up
Zinedine Zidane has named uncapped Paris FC forward Pablo Pagis in France’s squad for Nations League matches against Italy and Turkey. Kylian Mbappe also returns after a knee injury, while Aurélien Tchouaméni, Ibrahima Konaté and Marcus Thuram are back in the squad for the first time since the World Cup.
France need only draw against Italy in Milan on Thursday to secure a place in the Nations League quarter-finals; they then play Turkey in Bordeaux on Sunday. Seven players, including Ousmane Dembélé and William Saliba, are absent through injury. The squad includes 22 players across goalkeeping, defence, midfield and attack.
In short
- Pablo Pagis receives his first France call-up.
- Mbappe returns after missing three matches.
- A draw with Italy would secure France’s quarter-final place.
