Zverev through to third Grand Slam final in a row

BBC Sport · 6 hours ago

Alexander Zverev reached his third consecutive Grand Slam final by beating Karen Khachanov 6-3, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (8-6) in the US Open semi-finals. The German top seed continues his strong run in 2026, having already won the French Open in June and reached the Wimbledon final in July, and he now goes into Sunday's showpiece as favourite given injury troubles for Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Zverev dominated the first set before facing stiffer resistance from world number 50 Khachanov, who forced tie-breaks in the second and third sets and even held two set points in the decider, both of which Zverev saved. It is Zverev's sixth Grand Slam final and second at the US Open, following a five-set defeat to Dominic Thiem in 2020. He will face either Ben Shelton or Frances Tiafoe, who meet in Friday's semi-final, in Sunday's final.
