Netflix has renewed its daily football podcast series "The Rest Is Football", committing to broadcast it for the next two Premier League seasons starting next month. The show, fronted by former BBC presenter Gary Lineker alongside ex-players Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, was Netflix's first daily sports show and had been airing as a vodcast throughout the recently concluded World Cup. The renewal signals Netflix's deepening push into live sport-adjacent content, following its recent slate of sports documentaries covering figures such as Jose Mourinho, Tyson Fury and Jamie Vardy.

Under the new deal, two episodes will air weekly, on Mondays and Fridays. The podcast, produced by Lineker's company Goalhanger alongside sister shows "The Rest Is Politics" and "The Rest Is History", performed strongly during the World Cup, consistently ranking in the UK's top 10 chart and briefly reaching number one, though its top episode still trails the BBC's Football Daily podcast with around 170,000 UK viewers. Goalhanger boss Tony Pastor praised Netflix for preserving the show's tone, while Lineker previously joked about swapping the BBC's Salford studio for a glitzier Times Square setup.
