Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 8, a modest update to its compact foldable that arrives alongside two new Fold models. The device is slightly slimmer and lighter than its predecessor and adds a stronger hinge with more pronounced beveled edges, but the price has risen to $1,200 amid wider industry pressures including higher component costs and RAM shortages, making it $100 more expensive than last year's model.

The new Flip measures 6.1mm thick unfolded and 13.1mm folded, weighing 6.35 ounces (180g), only marginally improved from the Z Flip 7. It shares the Fold 8's titanium hinge structure for a sturdier, less creased display, though screen brightness and cameras (50MP main, 12MP ultrawide) remain unchanged, and battery capacity is the same as before. Chipset choice varies by region, with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in some markets and Samsung's own Exynos 2600 elsewhere, including the UK. Software additions include a MyFan cam feature for tracking a chosen subject in video, a mirror mode using the front display, and expanded Gemini-powered functionality on the cover screen.
