Marvel and Insomniac Games have unveiled a prequel comic for the upcoming PS5 exclusive Marvel's Wolverine, timed to coincide with San Diego Comic-Con. The comic sets up the story ahead of the game, following Wolverine and the mutant team X as they infiltrate a secret base belonging to Sentinel creator Bolivar Trask, with events that "tear them apart." It gives fans extra narrative context before the game's release and ties into the wider Comic-Con promotional push, which includes a dedicated panel for the title.

Written by Insomniac's narrative director Walt Williams, with art by Iban Coello and Luke Ross, the comic is available as an exclusive physical edition for Comic-Con attendees, while everyone else can read it digitally through the Marvel Unlimited subscription service, which offers a free trial that auto-renews if not cancelled. Some fans have criticised the lack of a UK physical release and the subscription paywall, with suggestions it could instead have been included as an in-game cutscene. Marvel's Wolverine itself is due for release on PS5 on 15th September 2026.
