Birmingham marked the first anniversary of Ozzy Osbourne’s death with its first “Ozzy Day”, a city-centre celebration of the Black Sabbath singer’s life and connection to his birthplace. The events highlighted Osbourne’s importance to Birmingham’s musical identity and its reputation as the home of heavy metal.

The programme included live music, public art and visits to landmarks linked to Osbourne, including the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge. Bostin Brass gave pop-up performances, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra played at the Bullring, and Ozzy the Bull was decorated for the occasion; a limited-edition shirt listed all 52 Birmingham shows played by Osbourne, with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist. Osbourne died aged 76 in 2025, with his death certificate citing a heart attack, coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease.
