Hull KR and Hull FC are rugby league teams from Kingston upon Hull in Yorkshire competing in the Super League, Britain's top professional competition. A match between teams from the same city is called a derby, and the Hull derby has particular significance due to the long-standing rivalry between the clubs.

Hull KR are the defending Super League champions and among the competition's strongest teams. Hull FC are their biggest rivals, and matches between them carry far greater weight than regular league fixtures because of the intensity of the rivalry.

Both clubs compete throughout the season for playoff positions and the chance to win trophies. In local derbies, these competitive stakes are heightened by the historical and geographic rivalry, making these matches especially important to both clubs' campaigns and their supporters.
