Jamie Campbell Bower has been cast as Celeborn, Galadriel’s long-lost husband, in the third series of Amazon Prime Video’s *The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power*. The announcement, made alongside a first look at Daniel Weyman’s Gandalf in *Empire* magazine, signals that the show will finally introduce a major Tolkien character whose absence has been a longstanding point of discussion among viewers.

In the series, Galadriel says Celeborn left to fight Morgoth and Sauron in the War of the Jewels and never returned, helping explain her pursuit of Sauron. Tolkien’s writings also describe a separation between Galadriel and Celeborn in the Second Age, but under different circumstances: he remains in Eregion while she leaves with their daughter Celebrían, before they later reunite in Imladris, later known as Rivendell. The adaptation therefore continues to alter the source material’s chronology and character history.
