The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art will publicly screen a selection of episodes from Star Wars: Detours, the animated parody series created by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich that was never broadcast after Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012. The announcement at San Diego Comic-Con is significant because it gives audiences their first official opportunity to see material from the long-shelved project when the museum opens in September.

The museum will contain more than 100,000 square feet of exhibition space across over 33 galleries, including two drop-in theatres showing films and shorts continuously. The Robert Flaherty Theater will focus on documentaries about featured artists, while the Slavko Vorkapich Theater will screen early silent films, animation, Looney Tunes, Cowboy Bebop, Star Wars: Visions and George Lucas student films from 1965 to 1969. Museum representatives said its programme aims to place popular art forms, including comics, illustration, posters and film, alongside more traditionally recognised museum art.
