PlayStation Network outages today only exacerbate furor towards the platform
PlayStation Network experienced widespread service issues on 24 July, affecting functions including account management, online gaming, social features, video, the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct. The disruption matters because it comes amid continuing anger towards Sony following its earlier announcement that it plans to end disc-based games in 2028.
Sony’s status page said all services were affected, although the problems did not appear to affect every player or region. Developers of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, whose open beta was under way, acknowledged that some PlayStation users were unable to log in or access network services and said they were investigating; Sony had not provided a fuller public explanation at the time of publication.
- PSN suffered broad service disruptions on 24 July.
- Not every PlayStation player appeared to be affected.
