A new Critical Role story will follow one of The Mighty Nein’s most popular characters

Polygon · 4 hours ago

Critical Role is releasing an anthology that shifts narrative focus from the primary adventuring party to supporting characters whose lives intersected with the Mighty Nein during Campaign 2. The collection invites readers to discover the perspectives and experiences of memorable figures whose stories remained largely untold within the main campaign narrative.

The book prominently features Essek Thelyss, a drow wizard who initially worked against the party but eventually earned genuine affection from audiences. Authored by Dani Carr with Matthew Mercer's approval, the story examines Essek's internal conflict as he confronts the weight of his past choices and considers whether authentic change and self-redemption remain possible for someone who has compromised fundamental principles.
