Six Years of Genshin Impact Support Culminates in Next Month’s Sequel-Sized PS5 Update
Genshin Impact’s version 7.0 update will launch on PlayStation 5 on 12 August, taking players to Snezhnaya, the long-awaited seventh nation of Teyvat. The update represents a major milestone for the game after six years of support, adding a new region, story, characters, wildlife and gameplay systems centred on an industrial state facing an energy crisis caused by a blizzard.
Two playable characters, Odette and Alyosha, will be introduced, with Alyosha available free through the main quest. Version 7.0 will also add third-person shooting with weapons and attachments, a functioning railway that serves as a base, a train-racing minigame, and a free Diona reward through limited-time activities; new players can access the Snezhnaya quests directly, though without earlier story context.
