Ruthless Wigan seize on Leigh errors to go second

BBC Sport · 4 hours ago

Wigan Warriors came from behind to beat Leigh Leopards 20-8 in the latest Battle of the Borough, extending their winning run in all competitions to 10 matches and moving into second place in Super League. Leigh controlled much of the first half and led at the interval, but a series of defensive lapses and handling errors allowed Wigan to score four tries in a decisive 22-minute spell.

Innes Senior scored Leigh’s only try, his 10th of the season, after Adam Cook had opened the scoring with a penalty. Jai Field’s 80-metre try shortly before half-time began Wigan’s recovery, before Bevan French, Zach Eckersley and Noah Hodkinson added further scores; Harry Smith kicked two goals. The defeat ended Leigh’s five-match winning streak and dropped them to fifth, with coach Adrian Lam identifying several costly individual errors.
