The Sharge Disk Pro 2 Ultra is presented as a much more capable portable SSD enclosure than its predecessors, combining expandable storage with a USB-C hub, HDMI output and magnetic phone mounting. The Verge’s hands-on review argues that this versatility makes it a credible everyday-carry accessory for laptops, phones, handhelds and Nintendo Switch consoles, despite its storage speeds lagging behind newer high-bandwidth enclosures.

The compact device supports an M.2 SSD of up to 8TB, 4K at 144Hz HDMI 2.1, USB-A, SD and microSD readers, and USB-C power delivery; tested write speeds averaged about 700MB/s with a 1TB Lexar NM710. Its Ultra model needs only 1.5W of bus power but can supply just 3W to an SSD, causing shutdowns during demanding tasks such as ProRes recording or large transfers unless an external charger or battery is connected. A cheaper Lite version requires 5W and is limited to 4K at 60Hz over HDMI 2.0.
