Fifa president Gianni Infantino is meeting senior officials in Rabat, Morocco on Wednesday as he battles to contain a revolt sparked by his now-abandoned plan to sell off Fifa's commercial and event operations to private investors. The gathering follows a highly critical internal memo from secretary general Mattias Grafstrom, the resignation of senior adviser Carlos Cordeiro, and public criticism from figures including Arsene Wenger and Prince Ali of Jordan, with Uefa also declaring it has lost confidence in Infantino's leadership.

Those expected at the meeting include finance chief Thomas Peyer, legal chief Emilio Garcia Silvero, chief of staff Daniel O'Toole, member associations chief Elkhan Mammadov and media relations director Bryan Swanson. Cordeiro, who quit on Friday, said the "Fifa Forward Enterprise" proposal was "a bad deal for football" and posed unanswered questions about oversight, beneficiaries and governance, with member associations given just until 19 September to approve it. Wales and, reportedly, England have withdrawn support for Infantino's re-election, while Fifa's chief operating officer said the plan had been "the project of one person" that deceived the organisation's own administration.
