Arsenal have reportedly returned with a bigger offer for Aston Villa's England defender Ezri Konsa, whom Villa value at a minimum of £60m, after an earlier bid was rejected. Villa are meanwhile trying to secure Atlético Madrid left-back Matteo Ruggeri for £14m, continuing a pattern this window of Villa fending off interest in their World Cup stars while replenishing their squad elsewhere.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are eyeing Real Madrid centre-back Raúl Asencio, 23, who has been told he can leave, as well as teenage PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye. Everton have been linked with Celtic's Alistair Johnston, while Trabzonspor, fresh from signing Mohamed Salah, could also land Darwin Núñez from Al-Hilal. Fenerbahce are chasing Real Madrid's Endrick, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest both want Tottenham's Lucas Bergvall, Fulham are pursuing Southampton's Shea Charles (valued at £30m), and Middlesbrough are finalising a £14m deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek plus a £7m move for Spurs' Ashley Phillips.
