Swansea City chief executive Tom Gorringe says the club now has the "right foundations" in place for the first time since he joined 18 months ago, ahead of a Championship campaign in which they will hope to challenge for promotion to the Premier League. Gorringe, who arrived as chief operating officer in February 2025 before being promoted to chief executive a month later, contrasted the current mood with the "apathy" he felt watching Swansea lose at home to Sheffield Wednesday shortly before joining, saying the club had "drifted far too far away from where we want to be".

Swansea finished 11th in the Championship in 2024-25 following managerial changes involving Alan Sheehan and Vitor Matos, and have since appointed Ben Stevens as sporting director while investing again in the transfer market this summer. The Swans open their ninth consecutive Championship season away at Stoke City, having first faced Birmingham City in the Carabao Cup, with Gorringe telling a fans' forum that the club now has "the right people in the building" to push up the divisions.
