The late victory underlined Leeds’ resilience and strengthened their prospects of securing the League Leaders’ Shield and a top-two finish.

Wakefield led 16-0 before Brodie Croft gave Leeds hope, then moved 22-6 ahead early in the second half. Leeds narrowed the gap through James McDonnell and Cam Smith before Jake Connor’s 77th-minute grubber was grounded by Chris Hankinson; Connor then converted from close to the touchline. With five regular-season games remaining, Leeds have a points difference more than 200 better than Wakefield and Wigan.
