Sunrisers claim second spot and eliminate Phoenix

Sunrisers Leeds moved into second place in The Hundred after a convincing 45-run victory over Birmingham Phoenix at Edgbaston, ending Phoenix’s qualification hopes. The result significantly improves Sunrisers’ position in the race for the knockout stages, while Phoenix remain bottom and join London Spirit in being eliminated.

Ryan Rickelton led Sunrisers’ 169-7 with 65 from 37 balls, supported by Mitch Marsh’s 34, before Brydon Carse and Matthew Potts each took three wickets as Phoenix were restricted to 124-8. Sean Dickson top-scored with 34 for Phoenix, who have won only one of six matches; Sunrisers rose from fifth to second on net run-rate, ahead of MI London and Welsh Fire.
