The shark thriller "The Devil's Mouth" has become the most-streamed film worldwide on Prime Video, marking the latest horror hit for the platform following the recent success of Curry Barker's "Obsession." The 104-minute film, released on 29 July, follows a group of friends whose dive into an underwater cave system is disrupted by a bull shark, adding to a strong year for horror releases across cinemas and streaming.

The film stars Kathryn Newton, fresh from "Avengers: Doomsday," alongside Lana Condor, Gavin Casalegno and Nico Hiraga, and is directed by Jeff Wadlow, who previously made the streaming hit "Imaginary" in 2024. It arrives amid a wider surge for horror in 2026, a year that has also seen releases such as "Hokum" with Adam Scott, Sam Raimi's "Send Help," "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" and the record-breaking "Backrooms," with "Obsession" cited as the genre's standout success of the decade so far.
