Spider-Man: Brand New Day has overtaken 2012's The Avengers at the global box office in just 12 days, cementing its status as a franchise-saving hit for Sony and Marvel. The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring Tom Holland in his fourth solo outing as the character, has been buoyed by strong reviews and audience turnout, and it is now the highest-grossing film of 2026 so far.

The film opened with over $930 million globally and added roughly $500 million in its second weekend, putting it on course to pass $2 billion this week and become only the third superhero film and eighth film overall to reach that milestone. It currently sits among the 15 highest-grossing films of all time, and is set to overtake Spider-Man: No Way Home's $1.9 billion lifetime total, meaning the only films still ahead of it also feature Holland as Spider-Man.
