Explained simply
The UK and Ireland box office chart ranks films by ticket sales in cinemas across those markets. Spider-Man is a Marvel superhero, while The Odyssey is Christopher Nolan’s film based on the ancient Greek story of Odysseus’s long journey home after the Trojan War.
The films are backed by major studios: Sony makes the Spider-Man film, and Universal distributes The Odyssey. Box-office totals show how much audiences are spending on tickets, offering one measure of a film’s reach and commercial performance.
