DJ Shadow Announces ‘Endtroducing’ 30th Anniversary Edition

Clash · 4 hours ago

DJ Shadow is set to reissue his landmark 1996 debut album 'Endtroducing' to mark its 30th anniversary, with the special edition due on 18th September via Mo'Wax/PIAS. Widely regarded as the first album built entirely from samples, the record remains a hugely influential touchstone in modern production, praised for weaving together sources ranging from obscure funk 45s to Giorgio Moroder and a snippet of dialogue from Twin Peaks.

The album was famously created using minimal equipment: an Akai MPC60 MkII sampler, a Technics SL-1200 turntable and an Alesis ADAT tape recorder. The reissue follows last year's 'The Mo'Wax Singles 1993-1997' box set, which gathered DJ Shadow's original Mo'Wax singles alongside alternative mixes and previously unheard edits. To celebrate the anniversary, he will also embark on a full 'Endtroducing' tour, including a show at London's Barbican on 18th December.
