Playstation Announces ‘Marvel’s Wolverine’ Limited Edition PS5 and Controller
Sony has unveiled a range of Marvel's Wolverine-themed PlayStation 5 hardware ahead of the Insomniac Games title's launch, including a limited-edition console bundle, matching DualSense controllers and swappable console covers. All items will go on sale on 15 September, the same day as the game itself, with pre-orders opening on 19 August.
The centrepiece "Battle Yellow" bundle features a yellow PS5 Digital Edition console adorned with Wolverine artwork and claw-slash detailing, a matching DualSense controller and a game code, priced at $649.99, while the controller alone costs $84.99. PS5 and PS5 Pro owners can instead buy separate console covers for $74.99, with Pro users able to opt for a silver "Adamantium" design evoking Wolverine's metal skeleton, alongside a matching $84.99 controller. The announcement comes as Sony continues to face criticism over its decision to end physical disc production by 2028, with much of the social media reaction to the new bundle focused on that issue rather than the merchandise itself.

Explained simply
PlayStation is Sony’s gaming brand, and the PS5 is its current home console. Insomniac Games, a studio owned by Sony, is making Marvel’s Wolverine, a game based on the Marvel character known for his healing powers and metal claws.
Wolverine is part of Marvel’s X-Men stories, which have appeared in comics, films and games. Special console designs and controllers are a way for Sony to link its hardware to a major game release.
The PS5 comes in versions that use game downloads and versions that can play discs. That distinction matters to players who prefer buying physical copies, and shapes discussion around how games are sold and played.
