Five teen friends killed after vehicle plunges down Colorado cliff, leaving community shattered

Fox News ·

Five 17-year-old boys from Grand Junction, Colorado, were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in veered off Lookout Lane and plunged down a steep hillside late on Saturday. The tragedy has devastated the local community, coming just as the new school year begins, with schools, businesses and families left reeling from the loss of five young lives at once.

Authorities were not alerted until around 7:45am on Sunday, when 911 dispatchers received reports of a vehicle possibly having gone over a cliff edge; police and firefighters then found the wreckage on the hillside. The Mesa County Coroner's Office said three teenagers, including the driver and front-seat passenger, were wearing seatbelts, while the other two were unbelted and ejected from the vehicle; all five died of their injuries. Speed is being investigated as a possible factor, though officials have not identified the driver or confirmed a cause. While the coroner's office withheld the victims' names in line with policy on minors, families and friends identified them as Braden Taylor, Tristan Tucker, Titus Gould, William Simms and Tyler Martinez, with local businesses and fundraisers now supporting grieving relatives.
