Jamaican dancehall artist Malie Donn is preparing to release his debut studio album, The Golden Child, on 4 September through VP Records. The 20-track record represents a major step for the 25-year-old, who has built momentum through viral singles and projects while drawing on Portmore’s influential dancehall tradition. It also underlines his emergence as one of Jamaica’s rising performers, with a Caribbean Music Awards nomination and growing streaming figures.

Born Kymalie Hylton in Waterford, Portmore, Donn cites Vybz Kartel, Masicka and the area’s musical culture as formative influences. After leaving collegiate athletics, he released local hits including “Hennergy”, “Crook” and the 2023 breakthrough “V6”; allegations of sexual assault following his detention in Barbados that year were later dismissed. His recent successes include “Whats Popping”, “Charge Up”, “Reboot” and “Van Cleef”, and Luminate reports 36.7 million official on-demand US streams in 2026; the album features Byron Messia, DJ Frass and SQUASH.
