Liam Neeson’s 2024 Irish crime thriller In the Land of Saints and Sinners has become a notable Netflix success, reaching third place in the US and seventh worldwide. Its performance matters because it shows continued demand for Neeson’s action-led films, even as this one takes a slower, more character-driven approach than his Taken-style hits.

Set in County Donegal in 1974, the 106-minute film follows former contract killer Finbar Murphy, whose hoped-for quiet retirement is disrupted by IRA members fleeing a failed Belfast bombing. Kerry Condon co-stars alongside Ciarán Hinds, Colm Meaney and others; the film has an 83% critics’ score and 74% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Neeson, 74, is also due to appear in The Fix on 11 September and The Mongoose on 30 October.
