Developing story first seen 3 hours ago
CBS is developing “Strike Force”, a law-enforcement drama starring and executive-produced by former “Chicago PD” actor Jesse Lee Soffer. The project reunites Soffer with writer and executive producer Matt Olmstead, a co-creator of “Chicago PD”, and could extend their established association with procedural television into a new CBS series.
The working-title series follows a seasoned DEA agent returning to Kansas City to head a multi-agency team pursuing violent criminals in America’s heartland. Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed will executive produce through Jerry Bruckheimer TV, with CBS Studios producing; CBS has opened a development room and is considering the programme for the 2027–28 broadcast season. Jesse Lee Soffer is an American actor best known for playing detective Jay Halstead in Chicago PD, a long-running police drama. Matt Olmstead helped create that series, and the two have also worked together on FBI: International, another crime show.
Strike Force is being developed for CBS, one of the main US broadcast networks. It would centre on the Drug Enforcement Administration, or DEA, the federal agency that investigates illegal drug trafficking, with a team drawn from several law-enforcement bodies in Kansas City.
The project also involves producer Jerry Bruckheimer, whose television company has made a number of successful crime and action dramas. A development room means writers are working on the programme before CBS decides whether to order it as a full series.
