Pluto Film has acquired international sales rights to *I Matter*, the directorial debut of actress Alina Șerban, ahead of its world premiere in the Venice Spotlight section at the Venice International Film Festival. The producers say it is the first film by a Roma woman to be selected for an A-list festival, making the deal significant both for Șerban's career and for wider representation of Roma stories in cinema. The drama draws on Șerban's own experiences of identity and belonging, following her 15 years of work creating Roma-led theatre and film.

The film follows Rebeca, a young Roma woman leaving an orphanage who is accepted into university to study acting, only for her past to complicate her hopes of building a family and a new life. It is produced by Microfilm, 2PilotsFilmproduction and Frakas Productions, with backing from bodies including ZDF, ARTE, the Romanian Film Center and Creative Europe. Producer Ada Solomon and Pluto Film's Daniela Cölle both praised the project's emotional depth, with Cölle calling it "a warmly human narrative" they hope will resonate with global audiences.
