Beatport has strengthened its ban on fully AI-generated music by introducing an AI detection tool across its catalogue. Tracks identified as entirely AI-made will be stopped before appearing on the platform, with rights holders informed; Beatport says this supports trust among DJs, artists and labels while still allowing majority human-created, AI-assisted music if labelled.

The tool is provided by Beatdapp, which already works with Beatport on detecting streaming fraud, and expands a policy introduced in January 2025. In Beatport’s survey, 77% of users said they strongly preferred fully human-made music, 60% said they would not play AI-generated tracks in DJ sets, 8% were open to doing so, and 13% would consider it where artists and labels were fairly paid.
