Disney unveiled early footage of Frozen 3 at D23, teasing a darker new antagonist connected to the Northern Lights while retaining the series’ comic tone. The film will reunite Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven for Anna and Kristoff’s wedding, which is interrupted by a mysterious threat to Arendelle.

The footage showed jagged snowflakes and a frozen path leading into the Northern Lights, where Elsa encounters an unseen, cloaked woman who calls Anna and Elsa the “famous sisters of Arendelle”. Josh Gad also performed a romantic song suggesting Olaf will have a love interest named Samantha, referencing Frozen 2; Frozen 3 is due in cinemas on 24 November 2027, eight years after Frozen 2.
