No official announcement has been made, and Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman immediately qualified the remark, but the comment matters because the game has remained unavailable on current platforms despite long-running fan demand.

Hit & Run originally launched for GameCube, PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox, combining Simpsons characters and Springfield with open-world driving gameplay. It has never been re-released, leaving emulation or original hardware as the main ways to play; possible return routes include a full remake, a classics catalogue release, or Xbox and PC backward-compatibility arrangements. The franchise most recently appeared prominently through a Simpsons-themed Fortnite mini-season in late 2025.
