Marvel reveals the new X-Men cast, including Inde Navarrette and Adam Driver
Marvel has announced the principal cast for its forthcoming, untitled X-Men film, formally bringing the mutant team into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The announcement is significant because X-Men characters have been anticipated within the MCU for years and were only recently introduced through the latest Spider-Man film.
Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, alongside Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm and Inde Navarrette as Rogue. Adam Driver has been cast as Mister Sinister, the team’s antagonist; the film is currently scheduled for release on 5 May 2028, although the date may change.

The X-Men are a group of fictional superheroes from Marvel Comics, most of whom are mutants: people born with unusual abilities. Their stories often centre on how mutants live alongside ordinary people, including fear, discrimination and debates over whether their powers are a danger or a benefit.

They may feel that announcing a cast so far ahead of release invites judgement before audiences know the characters, story or creative direction, and that a major villain such as Mister Sinister needs careful development rather than serving as another franchise spectacle. Some will also prefer Marvel to prioritise a coherent, character-led vision over the commercial excitement of a high-profile reboot.
