Enterprise’s card checks disrupted car hire in France and Warsaw
Enterprise refused to release a hire car in France because the customer’s First Direct Visa card was wrongly treated as unacceptable, leaving a group of 10 to find alternative transport. After months of refusals, the company acknowledged staff had made a mistake and repaid the €440 (£370) spent on trains and taxis, as well as the £388.44 rental fee refunded by the booking agent.
A second traveller collecting a prepaid car in Warsaw was told her card’s initials did not match her driving licence, despite having hired cars with it before. Her group paid more than £145 for insurance they say they did not need to obtain the car. The article also flags Flex To Go terms requiring customers to pay for routine items such as screenwash and car washing, and to check fluid levels daily; it says these conditions were not clearly highlighted before collection.
