Spotify’s Running Mode is now available on Android
Spotify has expanded its AI-powered Running Mode feature to Android devices, having previously launched it on iOS in late July 2026. The feature generates playlists tailored to a user's run and forms part of Spotify's broader push into fitness content, building on an earlier running experiment the company trialled back in 2018.
Android users can now find Running Mode within Spotify's Fitness Hub, mirroring the iOS version, and can choose from 25 presets spanning various workout types and music genres. The playlists can be further customised by run duration, beat matching to help maintain a target pace, and optional audio cues. The rollout covers the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden, and follows Spotify's January 2026 introduction of AI-driven Prompted Playlists and an April 2026 partnership with Peloton, with the company noting that workout-related playlist requests are among the most common it receives.
