‘I’m not sure who I am’ – Bake Off winner in shock after bipolar diagnosis

BBC Entertainment · 4 hours ago

Great British Bake Off winner Georgina Grasso, from Carmarthenshire, has revealed she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and autism, after previously believing she had ADHD. The 2024 series champion, who became known as an advocate for the ADHD community during her time on the show, said the revised diagnosis had "come as a shock" and left her uncertain about her identity, prompting her to lean on her fans for support as she comes to terms with the news.

In an Instagram post, Grasso said doctors first raised the possibility of misdiagnosis last year, but she was initially sceptical. She described the new diagnosis of bipolar 2 as bringing a "bit of relief" alongside worry about maintaining her workload as a content creator, and said she has started new medication to help her stay stable. Bipolar UK notes that bipolar disorder and ADHD share overlapping traits and are commonly confused, which can lead to people not receiving appropriate treatment.
